Thin porcelain
Thin porcelain tiles are tiles that have a reduced thickness, i.e. less than traditional tiles. They are usually used to pave over an existing floor: the low thickness means that they do not rise too high and thus avoid having to cut into the doorways significantly. Our thin tiles are between 4 and 6.5 mm thick. On the market, however, you can find even thinner products with a thickness of 3 millimetres.
Lately, ultra-thin tiles have been widely used in renovations, both for their low thickness and for their large format that allows for extraordinary results.
In this category you will find different collections of thin wood effect porcelain stoneware or thin marble effect porcelain stoneware. The price varies according to the size of the tile; however, thin tiles tend to have a slightly higher price per square metre than those with the classic thickness.
Pros and cons of choosing thin stoneware
Thin tiles definitely have the following advantages:
-they are perfect for overlaying pre-existing floors;
-they are available in large slab sizes;
-they are perfect for use as wall tiles;
-they are lighter to handle;
And the disadvantages? Well, there are none! The only precautions to be taken, which are by no means cons, concern large thin stoneware slabs and are as follows:
-they must be handled with extreme care;
-they require special packaging for transportation;
-during laying, several people are needed to lay the same slab.
Apart from these tips, there are no disadvantages to laying thin tiles: they are exactly like normal stoneware tiles in terms of technical properties of durability and resistance.
