Self-locking paving stones
Self-locking paving bricks are a particular type of outdoor paving that is characterised by being composed of concrete blocks laid dry.
The bricks are all laid side by side, creating a compact pavement. They are available in different sizes, colours and vary in thickness depending on the model.
The self-locking bricks are perfect for use in the following places:
-parks;
-sidewalks;
-square;
-pathways;
-yards;
-gazebos.
One of the fundamental characteristics of concrete paving is its driveability: it can therefore be laid in areas subject to the passage of vehicles.
The advantage of constructing an external floor with concrete paving tiles is that, should there be a need to intervene in the base, all that is needed is to remove the necessary blocks, without having to break anything. The fact that they are small blocks placed side by side makes them very versatile.
Although the laying of self-locking bricks is dry and therefore quicker, it must be done very carefully because the cracks between the bricks make the floor permeable. This means that the right slope must be created so that water does not accumulate in one place, but drains away. The right slope must be given to the sand bed on which the bricks will rest: it must be levelled very precisely so that the water always goes towards the drain. Finally, to close the cracks between the bricks, it is necessary to sprinkle the floor with clogging sand and spread it along the entire surface.
In conclusion: self-locking paving stones are a really good solution for paving outdoors without having to use glues or make screeds, but in order to achieve a really good result, attention must be paid to the laying surface.
